Vijayapura: Two killed, 10 injured after buses collide head-on

Two women were killed and 10 others were injured in a head-on collision between two buses on the Kalaburagi highway in Vijayapura.
The incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m. on Saturday, involving buses from the Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation traveling from Kalaburagi and Vijayapura.
The deceased have been identified as Sajeeda Begum Makanadar (36) from Donur village in Basavanbagewadi taluk of Vijayapura district and Rohini Panchal (31) from Kalaburagi town.
The wreckage blocked the road, and resulted in a complete disruption of traffic on both sides of the Vijayapur-Kalaburagi highway.
The injured, including the bus drivers, were rushed to the Vijayapura District Government Hospital. The death toll is expected to rise as the condition of several victims remains critical.
Vijayapura Rural police, including ASP Shankar Marihal, reached at the scene. Efforts are underway to clear the route and assist those injured.
Further investigations are underway.
