Vijayapura: A voter in the Devar Hipparagi constituency of Vijayapura district secretly filmed himself casting a vote for the JDS candidate and shared the video on social media. The video has since gone viral, drawing the attention of election candidates, who are now demanding action to prevent such incidents from recurring.

A voter filmed himself casting the ballot for Rajugowda Patil, the JDS candidate contesting in the constituency. The act, however, has raised concerns about the sanctity of the voting process, as the secrecy of the ballot is a fundamental principle of democratic elections.

Opposing candidates, alarmed by the video’s viral spread, are calling for immediate action to address the issue and ensure that the integrity of the electoral process is maintained.

9.4 percent votes polled till 9 AM

Meanwhile, the district’s overall voting turnout stood at 9.4 percent as of 9 am on Wednesday. The scattered rain in various parts of the district on Tuesday night helped cool the soaring temperatures. Brisk voting was reported from various parts of the districts including Vijaypura Nagar Constituency, Nagathan of Nagathan Constituency, and Atharga of Indi Constituency, in the morning hours.
