Belagavi: Former minister Vinay Kulkarni, in jail for being the prime accused in the murder of zilla panchayat member Yogeesh Gowda, was not released on Friday.

Kulkarni was granted bail by the Supreme Court but the bail order was not received by the jail authorities.

Kulkarni’s supporters were eagerly waiting to grandly welcome him after his release from Hindalaga jail. But returned disappointed after he was not released.

The bail order issued by the court was handed over to Kulkarni’s lawyer who had sent it to the jail through Speed Post.

However, due to many government holidays, the court order is likely to reach the jail on Saturday, August 21.

Tight police security was provided to Hindalaga jail in the wake of the release.
