Viral: #arrestlucknowgirl trends after woman assaults cab driver on Twitter

The Lucknow police have filed a case against a woman after a video of her assaulting a cab driver went viral on social media.

Netizens are demanding legal action against the girl and #arrestlucknowgirl has been trending on Twitter.

The incident occurred on Friday, July 30 at the Krishna Nagar locality in the Uttar Pradesh capital. The woman alleged that the taxi driver of trying to run her over, but the cabbie denied the allegation.

The woman then hit the man at least a dozen times in the presence of traffic personnel.

In the viral video, she is heard saying, “You’ll run over a woman?”

As the driver seeks onlookers’ help to call the police, the woman is seen continuing with the assault.

He said she had damaged his mobile phone. “Who will pay for that? It is my employer’s phone. I’m a poor man…it cost ₹ 25,000,” he says.

Saadat Ali Siddiqui, the cabbie said, “She grabbed my phone from the car and smashed it into pieces. She also broke the car’s side mirrors. We both were taken to the police station where an FIR (First Information Report) was registered against me but nothing was done against her. I want justice,”

Not only that, but the woman also smacked a passer-by who tried to intervene and warned her not to hit the driver anymore.

The police filed the FIR on the basis of his complaint.

The footage from a CCTV camera showed the woman first crossing the road in a risky manner, wading through the passing vehicles. Most vehicles shown in the concerned segment of the video were jumping the red signal as the woman walked over the pedestrian crossing.

The cabbie stops his car in front of her and later she approaches the driver and begins her assault even before he got out.

The woman is seen picking up something from the road and flinging it at the car before going back to take another swing. She rips away the rear-view mirrors of the car on both sides.
