Visit flood-affected parts of K’taka: HK Patil to BSY

Bengaluru: Congress MLA HK Patil through a letter asked Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to cancel his trip to Delhi, which is scheduled for August 6, and visit flood-affected areas of north Karnataka instead.
Heavy rainfall in Maharashtra has triggered a flood-like situation in parts of northern Karnataka, with Maharashtra releasing huge volumes of water from its reservoirs.
Yediyurappa on July 29 proved his majority in the Assembly winning the confidence motion by a voice vote.
With the numbers game favoring the BJP government, the Congress and JDS did not press for division on the one-line motion moved by Yediyurappa that the House expresses confidence in his three-day-old Ministry.
As the Opposition did not press for division, the Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar declared that the motion had been passed by a voice vote.
