Vitla: A gang impersonating Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials stormed the house of a businessman near Narsha in Bolanthoor and looted approximately Rs 30 lakh. The incident, which occurred late on the night of January 3, came to light on Friday morning.

Sulaiman Haji, a resident of Narsha near Bolanthoor in Bantwal taluk, runs the Singari Beedi business and has been doing so for many years. Late Friday night, a group arrived at his house in a car with Tamil Nadu registration plates and pretended to be ED officers.

Claiming to conduct an investigation, the gang staged an elaborate drama for nearly two hours. During this time, they managed to seize around ₹30 lakh in cash from the house. Despite surveying the gold items in the house, the robbers left them behind, presumably due to the substantial amount of cash they had already taken.

The Vitla police have visited the scene and are investigating the incident.
