VMS to update commuters on traffic density soon

Mangaluru: Variable Message System (VMS) is a digital display showing information on all that the traffic police want to communicate with the people. It acts as an information centre, said Manjunath Shetty, ACP (Traffic) informing that VMS will be soon installed at vantage points in the city.
The big digital display will give commuters details on direction to various locations, the distance of the locations, traffic density as well as of any accidents, casualties on the road and information on alternative roads id available.
The city traffic police have decided to set up the VMS at Nanthoor to guide travelers from Bengaluru and Kerala to the city. The VMS at KPT Circle is for travelers from Mangaluru International Airport (MIA). For Another VMS will be setup at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Circle (Jyothi) giving guidance towards the city for travelers arriving from Puttur, Dharmasthala and Kasaragod.
It is being said that VMS system was to be placed a few months back. But due to the election duty, obtaining clearances and technical difficulties, the plan was rescheduled.
