Vote counting centre free from security!

Surathkal/Udupi: The National Institute of Technology at Surathkal and St Cecily’s Educational Institutions which have been under heavy police security since more than a month were set free on Thursday.
Post the elections, the EVM’s of the 8 Legislative Assembly constituencies within Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency have been stored under tight security at the strong rooms in two buildings at NITK.
Three tier security had been provided. Permission was required even for college lecturers and students to pass besides the building. CC camera surveillance was in effect. Officials from the district administration and senior police officials visited and inspected the security on daily basis.

St Cecily’s Educational Institution was chosen as the vote counting centre for all the Legislative Assemblies within Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency. Soon after the completion of the vote counting on May 23rd the voting machines were sent off from the centre and all security and barricades have been removed. Although the students are on semester holidays, NITK which was bustling with the presence of officials has now become quite.
St Cecily’s Educational Institution provides education from Anganwadi to Pre-University College and is currently indulged in doing preparations for the commencement of classes.
