Walkathon on Nov 1: Mangaluru Police announce traffic route changes

Mangaluru Police have announced changes to traffic routes on November 1 for holding a Walkathon.
In celebration of the 68th Karnataka Rajyotsava, Mangaluru City Police is set to host the ‘Let’s walk together, for a drug-free future walkathon-2023 on November 1, 2023, at 4:00 PM. More than 5000 students from over 120 educational institutions will participate in this event, marching for a drug-free future.
The march will commence at KS Rao Road, Navbharat Circle, PVS, Lalbagh, and culminate at the Mangala Stadium. To ensure the smooth flow of the procession, several traffic modifications and restrictions will be in effect.
Key traffic modifications include:
- The road towards Clock Tower from Mangaluru City and Service Bus Stand will be closed to vehicular traffic till the time the procession reaches the Clock Tower Circle from the South Gate of the City Hall.
- Vehicular traffic is prohibited on Fatima Store Road in Central Market.
- As soon as the procession reaches the Clock Tower, vehicles coming from the City and Service Bus Stand side will directed to take a right turn near the Clock Tower and travel on Hampanakatta – Clocktower Road against the one-way traffic till Hampanakatta Junction, then turn left and proceed towards LHH Road.
- All vehicles coming towards Ambedkar Circle via LHH, City & Service Bus Stand, and Nehru Maidan shall turn left near Hampanakatta Junction and proceed to UP Mallya Road opposite Railway Station Road.
- All vehicular traffic is prohibited on PM Rao Road.
- All vehicular traffic is prohibited on Sharavu Ganapati Temple Road.
- All vehicles going towards Ambedkar Circle from the Carstreet side shall take KS Rao Road via Navbharat Circle and VT Road (Karnataka Bank) near Yenapoya Hospital and proceed to Court Road or City Center Road.
- All vehicular traffic is prohibited from Bunts Hostel / Karangalapadi side towards PVS. Vehicles going towards Lalbagh from Ambedkar Circle shall travel through Karangalapadi Road and vehicles going towards KPT from Ambedkar Circle will travel through Kadri Kambal Road.
- All vehicles coming towards MG Road from Kudroli side will enter MG Road via Mannagudde – Sanganiketan Road to Narayan Guru Circle (Ladyhill).
- Vehicular traffic from KSRTC junction towards Narayana Guru Circle (Ladyhill) is prohibited. These vehicles are plying from Bejai Kapikad side via Kottara Cross.
- Vehicular traffic is prohibited between Narayana Guru Circle (Ladyhill) and Mannagudde Road.
- All vehicular traffic entering MG Road from the Kudroli Kuloor Ferry Road side using the following roads is prohibited —
PVS Kalakunj Road, Kodial Guthu Road, TMA Pai Road, GG Road (Path Mudi Road), Mannagudde Road (Ballalbagh), Nehru Avenue Road, Nehru Avenue Cross Road (Near Pabbas).
Parking is prohibited at the following locations:
Parking vehicles will be prohibited on both sides of roads from City Hall – Clock Tower – KB Katte – Hampanakatta – KSR Rao Road – Navbharat Circle – PVS Circle – MG Road (PVS to Narayana Guru Circle) – Mangala Stadium.
Parking is also prohibited on both sides of Koolur Ferry Road from Narayan Guru Circle (Ladyhill) to Mannagudda.
