War veteran retired Major General BK Mahapatra passes away aged 87

Bhubhaneshwar: Major General (retired) Basant Kumar Mahapatra, who participated in the 1962, 1965 and 1971 wars, passed away at the age of 87 at a hospital in Odisha on Monday, February 16
“Odisha mourns the sad demise of its illustrious son. He will always be remembered for his bravery, contribution to education and philanthropic activities,” Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik tweeted.
Basant Kumar’s body was taken to his residence at Chandinichowk at Cuttack.
