Davangere: Sri Rama Sene chief Pramod Muthalik on Thursday, September 3 said that he had warned about drug trafficking in the state in 2009 itself.
“At the time of pub riots in Mangaluru in 2009, I had warned regarding drug trafficking but the BJP lead government targeted me and sent me to jail for 15 days,” he told reporters here.
Further, Muthalik said that the police and politicians are responsible for this drug jihad in the state. The police intelligence department has failed to prevent the drug mafia and despite having information on drug trafficking, they were unable to take action because of political pressure.
“The drug addiction weakens young men and women in the country. I demand the state and central government to end the drug jihad in the country,” he added.
“If the intelligence officials are unable to stop the drug jihad, let them shut the unit. We will take to the streets and track down those involved in the drug trafficking,” Muthalik said.
