Watch: Animal lover Rajani Shetty feted in Delhi

Mangaluru: The Delhi Commission for Women felicitated animal lover and well-known savior of stray dogs, Rajani Damodar Shetty on the occasion of international women’s day for her selfless service.

Rajani was given Rs 50,000 in reward and a memento by the organizers.

“Thank you DCW )government of India Delhi Commission for Women International Women’s Day awards 8 march 2022 once again thank you for supporting my voiceless and for honoring me with an award and 50000 rupees, thank you Swathi Maliwal and to my all supporter who supported me to help my voiceless children,” Rajani wrote on Instagram.

Rajani has risked her life several times to rescue animals. During the first Covid-induced lockdown in 2020, a video of her climbing down into a well by tying a rope to her waist to rescue a dog went viral.

She and her husband have devoted their life to stray animals, mostly feeding, giving shelter and treating them in their house. They feed 800 stray dogs every day and look after dozens of dogs, cats, rabbits, birds in theur house.
