Mangaluru: For the first time, football fans in Mangaluru are in for a treat, as here is an opportunity for them to watch the 2018 FIFA World CUP finals between Croatia and France at Roastov Arena 12, Fisht Stadium in Moscow, live on the screens of a multiplex on K.S. Rao road in Mangaluru.
Cinepolis in City Centre Mall will screen the entire final match on two of its screens from 8pm. Both the screens have a seating capacity of 350 people each and hence a total capacity of seating 700 people. The firm has obtained screening rights from FIFA, the international governing body of the sport and Sony Pictures India Network, the official broadcaster for the FIFA World Cup finals in the Indian subcontinent. The multiplex has also received permission from the DC to keep the screening running until the end of the carnival.
The tickets have been booked at a uniform rate of 300 rupees across all three classes and 50% of the tickets have already been booked by Friday evening, informed Keerthan Shetty, unit head of Cinepolis.
Rain plays spoilsport
“Dakshina Kannada Football Association had planned to install an LCD screen at Nehru Maidan in the city to make it convenient for the football lovers in Mangaluru to watch the semifinals and the finals of the world cup, but due to the incessant rains, this was not possible,” informed D.M. Aslam, president of DK Football Association.
Live screening of Kabaddi and Cricket
“After observing the response from Karavali for the live screening of the football match, Cinepolis will take the decision on the possibility of live screening other sports including Kabaddi, Cricket World Cup and IPL,” informed Keerthan Shetty.
In the state, the 2018 FIFA World CUP finals will also be screened live in Cinepolis multiplexes at Orion Mall, ITA Mall and Rahul Meenakshi Mall in Bengaluru.
