Udupi: There enough water at Kuta Gundi near Puttige Bridge to provide it to the city for 15 days and soon after pumping out water from Brahmara Gundi at Bhandarybetta, the municipality officials will commence water pumping from Kuta Gundi.
Work on pumping out water from Kuta Gundi located a kilometer from Baje dam must be started with haste or else, most of the water may be lost through evaporation due to the heat of the sun, informs a local Shudhakar Shetty Mattebailu.
Objection from villagers
2 years ago, when the city was facing water scarcity, attempts were made to pump water from near Puttuge bridge which was strongly objected by the villagers here due to which, only a little limited amount was allowed to be pumped.
Intervention is necessary
Even no there is a possibility that the people near the bridge may protest. In this backdrop, intervention may be required to win over the faith of the villagers in and around this area.
