Udupi: The existing water rationing sysytem will be in existence till the water level in Baje Dam reaches half level, informed Commissioner of Udupi City Municipal Council Anand Kallolikar.

As per the current rationing water is being supplied to each zone, out of the six zones in Udupi district once in six days.

Speaking to media persons here on Monday that the rationing will continue despite the moderate rainfall witnessed in the district. “A gate at the dam against the Swarna constructed upstream at Mundli village near Karkala had been opened. There is a small amount of inflow so far from the Mundli dam and water has reached close to Shiroor village (about 25 km from here). We expect this water to reach Baje dam by Tuesday,” he said.

He added that in case of good rainfall in the catchment area and Karkala side the rationing policy can be changed.
