- Some call it a miracle, some call it a rare natural event
Moodbidri: Generally, as the summers set in, the water level in the wells recede. However, the unexpected has occurred in a well at Paladka near here, with the water level in the well rising up considerably instead of receding. The locals are both surprised, curious and assume that it’s either a miracle or something rarely natural.
The sudden rise in water level occurred in the well belonging to Sathurni and Veena D’Silva couple, located near Paladka St Ignatius Church and Sri Kodamanithaya Kukkinanthaya Daivastana on Wednesday.
The couple had bought the land here a couple of days back and constructed a house. Two years back, a 40 feet deep open well had been dug up. Last year, the amount of water within the well wa limited to only 3 rings. The couple was expecting the same this year too. The water level in the wells of the surrounding areas has completely receded. But now, all of a sudden the water level of this single well has risen up drastically from 3 feet to 19 feet!
Vented dam effect?
A vented dam has been created at Puttige Kanchibailu Erugundi because of the efforts of Paladka Church’s parish priest and the villagers bearing fruit through the peoples representatives at the cost of Rs 1.5 crore. The rise in the underground water level must be due to the construction of the vented dam, opinion the people.
