Water supply to be disrupted in east, south Delhi

New Delhi: The water supply in east and south Delhi will be affected for two days as the Bhairathi and Sonia Vihar water treatment plants have been closed due to high levels of amonia in raw water.
The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has announced lifting of raw water from Yamuna intake due to closure of the Upper Ganga Canal. “Due to closure of Upper Ganga Canal, raw water is being lifted from Yamuna intake.
“High content of ammonia has been found in raw water lifted from Yamuna, therefore the Bhagirathi and Sonia Vihar WTP have been closed due to which most of the areas of south Delhi and east Delhi shall be affected for two days,” the DJB said in a statement.
Among the areas which will be affected due to shortage of water supply are Yamuna Vihar, Loni Road, Mandawali, Greater Kailash, Vasant Kunj, Sarita Vihar, Giri Nagar.
