Water thrice in a week for plantations along Netravati’s banks

Bantwal: In accordance to the order from the Deputy Commissioner to Mescom, power supply to the pump sets used by the famers to draw water from Netravati River for their plantations along the river bank has been limited to only thrice in a week, informed a release from Mescom.
Though water has been released from Shambur AMR dam, the water is not reaching Thumbay dam as per expectation since pump sets along the banks of the river are being used day and night. In this backdrop the action has been implemented, it informed.
The water level at Thumbay vented dam which provides drinking water to Mangaluru city’s dropping by the day. As the water level is falling, the corporation is finding it hard to fulfill the drinking water requirements of the city and hence the decision has been taken to stop power supply to the pump sets pumping out water from Netravati River for their plantations for four days in a week.
