Hassan: In a rare incident, a wedding was called off allegedly after the bridegroom’s parents took objection to the poor quality of the saree to be worn by the bride during the ceremony here at Bidarakere village of Hassan taluk.

As per reports, the bridegroom BN Raghukumar absconded a day before the marriage following his parents directions. Raghukumar’s parents were allegedly unhappy over the quality of the saree selected for the bride BR Sangeeta and had even asked her parents to get it changed. However on Wednesday, a day before the marriage ceremony, they called off the wedding following which Raghukumar absconded.

It is gathered that Raghukumar and Sangeeta were acquainted with each other for over a year and decided to tie the knot. Their parents had given their consent for the marriage.

Meanwhile Sangeeta’s parents have lodged a complaint with the women’s police station in Hassan against Raghukumar.
