Wenlock Hospital: PM Modi to lay foundation stone for 50-bed ICU unit via video conference

Mangaluru: The foundation stone for a new 50-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) building at Wenlock District Hospital in Mangaluru will be laid on October 29 at 11:30 AM under the PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officiate the ceremony through video conferencing from New Delhi at 1:08 PM, with Member of Parliament Brijesh Chowta presiding over the event.

The ICU building will span an area of 5,460 square meters, encompassing a ground floor and three upper floors.

The facility, funded jointly by the central and state governments at an estimated cost of Rs 24 crore, will include HDU beds (6), ICU beds (10), isolation wards (24 beds), isolation rooms (2), dialysis beds (2), MCH beds (2), emergency beds (5), and two operation theaters.

According to a statement from the Wenlock hospital superintendent, this addition aims to significantly boost the region’s healthcare infrastructure.
