What is ‘Agra Model’ that emerged as India’s best cluster containment strategy

One of the most affected districts in UP, Agra has presented a model of Covid-19 containment. With effective measures in identifying cases, testing, door-to-door surveys and strict quarantine measures which helped Agra successfully contain the spread of Covid-19.
According to the Union Ministry of Health’s statement, Agra was the first place in India where a cluster of coronavirus cases was detected. Agra had a total of 38 epicentres of Covid-19, and 10 epicentres have been closed so far.
Agra Model has emerged as the ‘Best Model’ for successfully tackling cluster containment, where a smart city control room was converted into a war room to fight the outbreak of coronavirus. War room was established in the Agra Smart City office and around 7,000 complaints have been heard
Also, around 1,248 teams of two healthcare workers deployed and 9.3 lakh people were contacted via household screening. Central Helplines were established, and special teams were formed
Agra district administration also worked on distribution of essential commodities, provision of food and shelter for homeless and needy, food distribution for animals and self-reporting.
The district focused on setting up facilities for isolation, treatment and testing using the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) investment model.
