Maharashtra Police arrested Arnab Goswami for allegedly abetting the suicide of 53-year-old interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother in 2018.

According to Mumbai Mirror, In May 2018, a 53-year-old interior designer named Anvay Naik and his mother had died by suicide in Alibaug, leaving behind a suicide note. In the note, Naik had informed that he was forced to take the drastic step after he was not paid dues collectively amounting to Rs 5.40 crore.

In his suicide note, Anvay Naik had mentioned Goswami and two others, Feroz Shaikh of IcastX/Skimedia, a media services firm, and Niteesh Sarda of Smartwork

An FIR was registered by the Raigad police back in 2018, based on a complaint by Naik’s wife Akshata.

The case was closed in 2019, but a re-investigation was ordered in May 2020 by Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh after a fresh complaint was filed by Anvay Naik’s daughter Adnya regarding the same

He has been currently taken to the Alibaug police station where he will be produced before the magistrate’s court for custody. During hearing at a court in Alibaug, Goswami said he was assaulted by police and sustained injuries on his hand and back.

Later in the day, a Raigad court sent the three accused to judicial custody for 14 days.
