White tiger: Vijayanagara Cong workers adopt Arjuna on behalf of RaGa

Vijayanagara: Amid the ongoing animal adoption and donation drive held across zoos in the state by the Zoo Authority of Karnataka (ZAK), Congress workers from the district have adopted a white tiger in Hampi Zoo on behalf of MP Rahul Gandhi to mark his 51st birthday.

An amount of Rs 1 lakh was also deposited with ZAK towards adopting a white tiger named Arjuna at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Zoological Park in Hampi for a period of one year in Rahul Gandhi’s name.

Meanwhile, fundraising continues to thrive after a recent appeal made by actor Darshan Thoogudeepa as over Rs 3 crore have been received in donations in the last 20 days, since World Environment Day, ZAK officials said.

ZAK had managed to raise a whopping Rs 1,00,47,900 from June 5 to 10, which is in stark contrast to the Rs 17,96,700 collected from July 29, 2020 to June 4, 2021.
