‘Who is communal? Modi or Tipu’, asks netizen sets Twitter on fire

Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan is again trending on Twitter. However, this time around it has nothing to do with the birth anniversary celebrations or scrapping of history lessons on the erstwhile ruler albeit a ring that he supposedly wore at the time of his death.
It all started when a Twitter user questioned who is communal among Modi and Tipu while stating that the Muslim king wore a ring with the word ‘Ram’ inscribed on it but Modi refuses to wear a skull cap.
“Muslim King, Tipu Sultan used to wear a ring on which ‘Ram’ was inscribed, but Modi refuses to wear a skull cap. Who is communal ?,” tweeted Salman Nizami, a writer, politician associated with the Congress.
Notably the tweet was posted on the same day that PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the Ram Mandir at UP’s Ayodha.
His tweet drew a barrage of comments from netizens and Tipu began trending on Twitter. Here are few of the tweets:
Oh, so the Tipu guy was anti Kannada!!
Using Persian as language on coins and official docs in a state with 95% plus people having Kannada as their language.
And such a bigot and anti Kannada person is celebrated by all these fake seculars and commies!!! https://t.co/4mfbOcicZP— Deejay (@Deejay39265513) August 6, 2020
Ohhh yeah Vro
It was Tipu Sultan who gave the slogan that Ramlala hum aayenge mandir wanhi banayenge.
And remember yes, it was Tipu who took the Rath Yatra to Ayodhya for the first time, Advani took inspiration from him only later. https://t.co/Y8oZQkmF8J— Virendra Meena (@Virendram337) August 6, 2020
Tipu was not a Muslim king, he was the King of Mysore Kingdom, don’t give religious touch to everything, we already have enough.

Fake news as usual.
The ornament was part of looted treasure by Tipu Sultan & not something he wore..
It’s actually proof of the loot that he did during his reign!
Another attempt at grabbing someone else’s possession/history and showing off as their own!!— Vish (@vishy_g) August 6, 2020
Those who believe Modi should wear skull cap to show he cares for Muslims, should start wearing bra to show they care for women empowerment.#Modi #tipu #india

Meanwhile Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj also featured in the tweet war when a user said that the Maratha King too had looted Karnataka temples and killed Hindu leaders.
Same was done by shivaji when he looted Karnataka temples and killed our Hindu leaders too

In the year 2015, Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan had asked the PM Modi to bring the ring, which he claimed is “preserved in Britain’s museum”, and show it to “those BJP activists who have been launching anti-Tipu Sultan stir.
