The US Department of Justice has accused Yale University of discriminating against Asian-American and white undergraduate applicants
Also, U.S. Justice Department threatened to sue Yale University if it didn’t immediately stop using race as a factor in undergraduate admissions
According to Washington Post, The US justice division was leading an investigation and discovered that the Ivy League Yale College is illegally discriminating in opposition to Asian Individuals and white candidates, thereby violating federal civil rights legislation.
The 2-year investigation was undertaken after a grievance was filed by Asian-American teams regarding Yale’s conduct.
The department has asked the university to suspend race or national origin as a factor in its admissions process for one year.
However, as reported by New York Times, Yale University President Peter Salovey said the allegations were baseless and the university also said that it would not change its admission process “on the basis of such a meritless, hasty accusation”
