Wild fire destroys 10 acres of forest

Mysuru: A wild fire claims around 10 acres of forest under Anechowkur and Hunsur range in Nagarhole National Park on Saturday. The fire was doused by the forest officials with the help of fire tenders and the local people.

The fire was first noticed at1 pm by forest department officials who were creating fire lines on Hunsur-Gonikoppa Road near the Anechowkur check-post. The officials immediately called the fire and emergency services from Hunsur, Periyapatna and Gonikoppa.

At 3 pm the fire was doused and the situation was brought under control.

Tiger Project Director Manikantan said that to prevent such incidents precautionary measure fire lines was created. Luckily, no case of animal death due to the fire has been reported, he said.
