Will provide parboiled rice along with ration in coastal districts: Kota

The government has announced its commitment to provide Parboiled rice along with ration in coastal districts.

Though this move has been criticized by some, Minister Kota Srinivasa Poojary has defended the decision, stating that boiled rice is the “lifeblood” of the coastal district.

The plan to distribute Parboiled rice also known as Kuchchalakki has been approved, but technical difficulties have caused delays.

Poojary has assured the public that the government is committed to resolving these problems and distributing Kuchchalakki in the coming days.

In addition to Kuchchalakki, the government plans to provide other rice varieties that are complementary to it. However, these varieties are not covered under the support price of the Centre. To address this, the government will provide a subsidy of Rs. 500 to buy these rice varieties.

Purchase centers have been opened in all three coastal districts, but the expected quantity of paddy was not purchased. Minister Poojary has stated that this issue will be compensated for and the plan will be implemented.

At a press conference, MLA Lalaji R. Mendon and BJP candidate Gurme Suresh Shetty were present to show their support for the government’s decision.
