Winter Session of Karnataka Legislature Begins in Belagavi With Empty Chairs

Belagavi:  Winter session of Karnataka legislature has started at Survana Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi on Monday amid the presence of only a few MLAs, ministers and MLCs. Legislative assembly speaker KB Koliwad adjourned the session until Tuesday morning after first session paid homage to the dignitaries who recently passed away.

As many as 53 MLAs and 8 ministers were present in the first session and almost all chairs in the legislative assembly found vacant following the absence of the representatives of the people.

Meanwhile, no minister attended legislative council session and only small number of MLCs of ruling Congress and opposition BJP were present in the legislative council session.

There were only 17 MLAs were present in legislative assembly when session began as scheduled. Following the absence of MLAs, speaker adjourned the session for 10 minutes to witness the participation of all members.
