Mangaluru: Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) on Thursday urged Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Dr Rajendra K V, to withdraw the complaint filed against regional secretary of Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV), Jagadish Karanth.

Karanth had allegedly threatened and also called upon people to lay siege to the office of the deputy commissioner if the quarrying is not stopped near Karinjeshwara temple following which, a case was registered against him.

The HJV held a press meet on Thursday and provincial secretary of the HJV, Radhakrishna Adhyantaya urged DC to respect the sentiments of the Hindus and withdraw the case filed against Karanth.

He further said that Karanth has been fighting against the illegal mining that takes place near the temple. Despite several complaints and petitions filed, no action was taken by the authorities and an awareness programme was held by HJV.

Also, Bantwal police officials are planning to bring down the Bhagava flag hoisted in the temple and a protest will be carried out against this too, he added.
