Bengaluru: Slamming the state government for its order imposing size restrictions on Lord Ganesha idols for outdoor pandals and homes, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President DK Shivakumar on Wednesday said that the idol makers would suffer huge financial losses as most of them have made big idols.

Pointing out that the government issued an order restricting the size of the Ganeshas within four and two feet for pandals and homes just three days before the festival, the KPCC President demanded that the government either withdraw the ‘meaningless’ order or compensate idol makers for the losses.

“If the government had issued this order two to three months ago, the idol makers would not have made big idols,” he added.

He however asserted that there is nothing wrong in restricting public rallies considering the Covid-19 situation.
