Udupi: Condemning the suspension of Udupi police sub-inspector Anantha Padmanabha, the Sri Rama Sene warned of staging violent protests if the suspension order was not revoked within next 48 hours.

Superintendent of Police Nisha James initiated disciplinary action against SI Ananathapadmanabha and Police Constable Jeevan Kumar on the charges of dereliction of duty.

The duo were charged for not registering appropriate FIR and not apprising the higher authorities about a moral policing incident that took place on November 2 at a park in Udupi. The departmental inquiry found negligence on the part of the cops in discharging their duties.

The action is not politically motivated and is only a disciplinary measure, Nisha added.
