A 27-year-old  woman in Bengaluru has accused a man of cheating her on the pretext of marrying her.

The victim claims that she was engaged to a man named Noman Sharif under false pretenses, leading to physical intimacy, and subsequently faced threats when she refused to cooperate.

According to the complaint, the victim, who had lost her parents, was residing at her uncle’s house when she decided to seek a potential partner for marriage through Shaadi.com in 2021.

During this time, Sharif expressed interest in her profile and provided his contact number. Trusting him, the victim initiated contact, and the two engaged in intimate conversations over the course of a few days.

Deceived by Sharif’s charm, the victim agreed to meet him at an OYO room in Hebbal, believing it to be an introduction to his parents. However, upon arrival, she discovered that Sharif had misled her, as his parents were absent. The victim alleges that Sharif engaged in sexual relations with her, under the false promise of marriage.

Sharif continued to pursue the victim and engage in physical contact despite her objections. In the FIR, the victim stated that Sharif resorted to threats, warning her that he would marry someone else if she did not comply. Moreover, he demanded Rs 50,000 for a rented house, which the victim refused to pay.

Later, Sharif proceeded to get engaged to another young woman. Following the engagement, he visited the victim’s residence and claimed that he got engaged due to parental pressure and said that he would fulfill his promise of marriage.

However, soon after Sharif blocked the victim’s mobile number, cutting off all communication.

A case has been registered.
