Udupi: Amid the furore surrounding the entry of women into the Sabarimala shrine, here in Udupi a former temple executive manager of the famous Kollur Sri Mookambika temple has courted controversy by entering the restricted area of Laxmi Mantapa here.
A CCTV footage of the incident which has now gone viral shows the woman, T R Uma being allowed to enter into the Laxmi Mantapa by the temple priests.
Uma, as well as the temple priests, have come in for a lot of flak for violating the customs of the temple.
Notably, it was during Uma’s tenure as the executive manager that several misdoings had occurred at the temple. It may be recalled that gold items, kept in the temple locker had been pledged with various cooperative banks and loans availed on them. The police had then arrested a temple staff Shivaram Madiwala in connection with the case.
People have raised questions why Uma was allowed entry into the otherwise restricted area when she no longer holds the post of the temple executive manager.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner has assured an investigation into the matter where after action will be taken.
