Belagavi: Locals foiled an attempt to sacrifice a 1.2 year old female child and handed over a woman to the police in an incident reported in Belagavi on Tuesday. Four other men who involved in the attempt to sacrifice the child have been identified as Javed Mulla,Faruq Mulla and Sona Mulla were reportedly escaped from the spot when the locals foiled their plan on a suspicion.
Woman arrested by the police has been identified as Shirina Jamudar. She had made elaborate arrangements for a human sacrifice at her rented house at Topi street in Belagavi when the locals rescued the child from sacrifice.
The police have also seized various items from the rented house of the woman including, copper plates, lemons, eggs and many other items used for witchcraft. A small trench was also dug house inside for human sacrifice. The accused woman reportedly tried to sacrifice the child on the assurance from an occultist that she can acquire wealth, gold in the future if she sacrifices a child on Mahalaya Amavasya Day.
