Woman attacked by wild elephant

Madikeri: The nuisance caused by wild elephants in Kodagu has continued and in the latest incident, a woman labourer was grievously injured after being attacked by a wild elephant at Valnuri in Somwarpete.

The seriously injured woman is identified as Kalavati (55) and was provided with first aid at the district hospital in Madikeri. She was later taken to Mysuru for further treatment. The victim was on her way to work when she was attacked by the wild elephant which inflicted critical injury to her head and limbs.

The relatives of the injured and other labourers launched a spot protest at the premises of the district hospital demanding that measures be taken to control the trouble caused by wild elephants and proper compensation be provided to the injured.
