Woman dies as wall collapses on her hut

Bengaluru: A 65-year-old woman died and four other people were injured after a compound wall collapsed on their shed on Thursday, January 17 night in T.C. Palya in K.R. Puram police station limits.
The deceased has been identified as Maramma, a daily wage worker hailing from Andhra Pradesh. The other injured are Shanthamma (55), her daughter, Mari (22), Lakshmi and her husband Suresh.
It is gathered that Maramma along with her daughter Lakshmi and her husband Suresh had come to the city few years ago and had been living in a shed in T.C. Palya. Both Lakshmi. Suresh sustained injuries and are said to be out of danger.
Shanthamma Mari, 22 were living in a shed next to Maramma’s shed. They too hailed from Andhra Pradesh and were working as daily wage workers. The two sheds were situated in T.C. Palya next to a compound wall, which was built 20 years ago and the wall was built next to a storm water drain to keep children away. On Thursday night at 11:50 pm, the wall collapsed and fell on the two sheds. Maramma who was sleeping close to the wall died on spot, while the others sustained injuries.
The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and two of them have been admitted, but are said to be out of danger.
A case with this regard has been at registered K.R. Puram police station.
