Alankaru: A woman tragically lost her life after a raft overturned on the Kumaradhara river at Yenitadka of Kobala village here on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Geetha (46), wife of Balappa Naik of Yenitadka.
The incident occurred when she was crossing the Kumaradhara on a raft after collecting cattle fodder. Two other women who were on the raft managed to swim ashore.
Geetha, Sunanda and Vidya — all residents of Yenitadka had been to Areltadka for fetching fresh fodder. They used a raft to cross the river, when a strong gust of wind overturned the raft. Sunanda and Vidya managed to swim ashore by holding onto the bales of grass.
Locals later found the dead body of the woman a little downstream.
