Woman flyer caught smuggling gold concealed in inner garments at M’luru airport

Mangaluru: In one of the biggest hauls in the recent past, customs officials at Mangalore Airport on March 11 intercepted a woman passenger who was allegedly attempting to smuggle gold by concealing it in her inner garments, including sanitary napkins and also in socks.
The passenger, Mohammed Ali Sameera from Kasargod had arrived from Dubai in Air India flight.
The net weight of gold seized from her possession is 2.41 Kg valuing worth Rs 1.10 Crore. Foreign-origin cigarettes violating COPTA regulations were also seized from her possession.
Further investigation is under progress.
The team was led by Dr.Kapil Gade I.R.S Deputy Commissioner and comprising of Preeti Suma Superintendent, Rakesh Kumar and Kshiti Nayak.
