Woman raped, killed in Jhajjar

Chandigarh: A 45-year-old woman was allegedly raped and killed by unidentified persons in Jhajjar district of Haryana, a senior police office said Thursday.

The incident took place when the woman was alone at her house where her body was found with hands tied with rope on Wednesday, Jhajjar Superintendent of Police (SP) Pankaj Nain said.

He said that police suspect that the victim was raped before being killed by the accused.

Police have announced a cash award of Rs 1 lakh for the person who will give information about the accused, he said, adding that a special investigation team (SIT) was set up to nab the accused.

He, however, said that the accused will soon be arrested.

Meanwhile, the villagers demanded immediate arrest of the accused.
