Mandya: In a shocking incident, a woman Sub Inspector allegedly thrashed two motorists when they were caught not wearing helmets at Somanahalli village near Maddur in the district earlier this week.

Eyewitnesses state that SI Savi and a few other officers were on duty Mysuru-Bengaluru highway at Somanahalli when Nagashimha and Nishanth were stopped for not wearing helmets. It is said that instead of fining them, the SI Savi abused them even though the duo responded calmly.

It is also learnt that Savi grabbed one of them by the collar and slapped him twice on the face. She then brought them to the police station and filed charges for obstructing a government official from doing her duty.

Meanwhile, the duo said that they paid the fine, yet were abused and thrashed, adding that they might file a complaint against the Sub Inspector.

Senior officials have said that an inquiry would be held to determine why the officer behaved in that way.
