A Tunisian woman went to the hospital with a urinary tract infection (UTI), and the doctor discovered a glass tumbler inside her bladder that was causing the symptoms.

In the 45-year-body, old’s scans revealed a glass surrounded by an 8-cm-wide bladder stone.

It didn’t, however, just happen to be there. According to a New York Post report, the quadragenarian later admitted to using the drinking glass for sexual pleasure four years ago.

However, in this unusual example, which was published in the journal Science Direct, the woman forwent the traditional method of sexual stimulation through the vaginal canal in favor of using the urethra.

Before going to the emergency room, the patient had been suffering from urgenturia, or excessive desire to urinate, for a year. A urine test revealed the presence of red and white blood cells, indicating the existence of a UTI. The woman, on the other hand, had not reported any blood.

The NY Post report included a scan as well as a photograph of the drinking glass and bladder stone.

The article refers to such objects as “intra-vesical foreign bodies,” and claims that the most common intent linked with their presence in the bladder is sexual or erotic.

Many patients, it turns out, wind up putting foreign bodies all the way up into their urinary bladder, and to add to that, embarrassment keeps these individuals away from seeking medical help.

Doctors at Habib Bourguiba University Hospital eventually removed the object by cystolithotomy, an open operation used to remove bladder stones.
