Women cheated: Man from Udupi nabbed in Sampya

Puttur: A man from Udupi, who took money and gold from a woman from Sarya in Balnadu village and absconded, has been caught by Sampya rural police on the charges of cheating. The accused is identified as Adarsh.

Savita from Sarya came in contact with Adarsh around 2 years ago. When he informed her that he required money for an emergency treatment, she pledged her gold jewellery and deposited Rs 3.40 lakh into his account. After a few days he had procured a gold chain. Then he failed return back the money. When confronted he failed to give a proper answer and also allegedly threatened to kill her if she gave a complaint, stated Savita in her complaint to Sampya police.

The police set a net to catch the accused and successfully nabbed the accused at Melkar on April 15th. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
