3-yo dies as mother throws her into river before attempting suicide

Gadag:  A three-year-old girl was killed allegedly after being thrown into the river before attempting to commit suicide by jumping into the same at Hole Aloor, Rona Taluk here on Wednesday morning

Uma Devi Shellikeri, 40, had reportedly gone to the bridge on the river with her three daughters with the intention of committing suicide. Two of her daughters fled the spot out of fear when they saw their mother throw their younger sibling Shreshta into the river. Later Uma herself jumped into the river

The terrified children informed locals about the incident who rushed to the spot and managed to rescue Uma. Meanwhile, a search is on to locate Shreshta’s body.

A case has been registered at  Rona Police Station.
