Kalaburagi: The second day of the public awareness rally against the controversial “Waqf notice,” organized by the BJP’s dissident faction across five districts, took place in Kalaburagi on Tuesday. Leading the protest, Vijayapura City MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal stated, “Our demand is to abolish the Waqf Act. This fight is not against any family.”
Yatnal clarified that he harbors no ambition for the party presidency or other positions. “Let anyone say whatever they want. No one has the moral right to prevent this fight against the Waqf Act or claim it is not our concern,” he declared.
He further added, “Don’t fear. This team will certainly produce the next Chief Minister. The power to decide tickets will soon rest with us. Once our team forms the government, the first cabinet meeting will withdraw all pending cases against Hindus and waive farmer loans.”
Report to Be Submitted by Dec 2
Addressing the issue of “Waqf encroachments” on temple and farmer lands, Yatnal revealed that an interim report would be submitted to the Joint Parliamentary Committee led by Jagdambika Pal in Delhi on December 3 or 4.
“Ask C.T. Ravi About His Comments”
Speaking in Yadgir on Tuesday night, Yatnal reiterated that the protest is in support of farmers and Mathas affected by the Waqf Board’s decisions. Responding to BJP leader C.T. Ravi’s suggestion to use party platforms for protests, Yatnal said, “Ravi speaks with us daily over the phone, calling our fight just. Ask him why he changed his stance.”
