Bengaluru: Home minister Araga Jnanendra has warned that the government will not tolerate the involvement of police, who are supposed to catch criminals, in crimes themselves.
Presiding over a progress review meeting of the Bengaluru Rural district police, the minister called upon the police to bear the responsibility of protecting the public.
He made these comments while referring to the involvement of several police officers in the PSI recruitment scam. How can the public be protected if the police themselves are involved in criminal activities, he asked.
The minister said that police should work towards building public trust and respect.
