Udupi: A fire broke out late at Robosoft Technologies here on Friday late night. The situation could have been disastrous had it not been for the work from home facility extended to employees amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is suspected that a short-circuit in the building basement sparked the fire, which engulfed the server room and destroyed office furniture and computers worth lakhs of rupees.

Security personnel, deputed on night duty at the premises, notified the fire station after he saw the smoke billowing out of the building.

Immediately two fire tenders were sent to the spot to douse the fire.
