World Laughter Day was created by Dr. Kataria in 1998 as he was fascinated by the astonishing results from laughing, the facial feedback hypotheses. By flexing facial muscles to laugh, a change of emotion can be induced.

The first Sunday of May is celebrated as World Laughter Day and this year it is being celebrated on May 2. This is an annual event celebrated to raise awareness about laughter and its many healing benefits.

This day is also celebrated to create world peace and encourage global awareness and consciousness of bonding.

The laughter yoga movement was welcomed by 105 countries and World Laughter Day gained immense prominence over the years.

As the famous saying goes, Laughter is the best medicine. There is plenty of scientific evidence to back it up.

This day is celebrated by gatherings of people in public places with the sole purpose of laughing and its popularity has grown exponentially with that of the Laughter Yoga Movement, counting thousands of Laughter Clubs in more than 105 countries. This day is now celebrated worldwide.
