It is celebrated every year on the Friday before Spring Equinox. This year, it is being observed on March 19. The first World Sleep Day was observed on March 14, 2008.
World Sleep Day is organized by the World Sleep Day Committee of World Sleep Society and aims to lessen the burden of sleep problems on society through better prevention and management of sleep disorders.
It focuses on various issues related to sleep, sleep medicine, education about sleep, and the social effects that sleep deprivation can have on everyday life.
