World’s first air-purifying headphone, Dyson confirms not an April fool’s joke

Dyson has been forced to deny that its new air-purifying headphones are a hoax on April Fool’s Day.
The British tech business launched its push into wearable technology earlier this week, following its success with vacuum cleaners, air purifiers, and hair styling products. Dyson published images of their new noise-cancelling headphones, the Dyson Zone, on March 30.

The Dyson Zone includes an air-purifying unit. According to Dyson, the headphones have a strange-looking face visor that will “provide a constant stream of purified air to your nose and mouth.”

“30 years of air filtration expertise pioneered into a wearable, high-end audio device,” Dyson wrote while announcing the Zone. “With a contact-free visor to supply a continuous stream of purified air to your nose and mouth. So, you can breathe cleaner air, anywhere,” the company said.

The concept of combining Bluetooth headphones with an air-filtration system appeared so absurd that some people thought it was an early April Fool’s Day hoax on Dyson’s part. However, the corporation has refuted the charges.

“This is no April Fool’s joke,” Dyson wrote on Twitter.

Dyson’s goal with the Zone, according to The Verge, is to make urban living more comfortable by addressing both air and noise pollution. The headphones will work by pulling in air through the earpieces. After that, the air is purified and fed through the no-contact visor so that users can breathe.

According to The National News, the headphones took six years to build. They will be available for purchase in the autumn. Dyson has not yet announced pricing or technical specifics.
