Yadgir: Man locks members of wife’s family in a room, sets them ablaze

A domestic dispute between a husband and wife turned fatal for four people after the former tried to burn them alive at Narayanpura in Yadgir here on Wednesday morning. One person was killed and three others are battling for their life at a hospital here.
Police have arrested the accused identified as Sharanappa H. As per reports, Sharanappa and his wife were having problems in their marital life.
The incident took place when members of the woman’s family had arrived at Sharanappa’s residence to broker peace between the couple. Sharanappa took them to the room located on the terrace and left the room on the pretext of calling his elders.
He, however, locked the room from the outside, poured petrol from an open window, and set fire. Nagappa Hagaragunda (35) died in the incident while Siddaramappa Murala, Muttappa Murala, and Nagappa Sharanappa Saroor sustained severe burn injuries.
A tense situation prevailed in the district following the incident. Police officials visited the spot and are investigating the case.
